    The Struggle Empty The Struggle

Post by Voipray Thu Oct 06, 2016 1:11 pm

On the desolate and long forgotten planet of Lornus Six lay old relics of an ancient and powerful alien race that has long since been dead. Known only as "The Ancestors" it is rumored that their empire at one point spanned the entire galaxy. Known for their incredible technology and mysterious disappearance, they left numerous fragments of their empire's old tech scattered all over the galaxy on moons and random planets. Such pieces of tech were found on Lornus by a Republic excavation team. Not wanting to let a chance at regaining ancient tech slip by, the United republic sent a strike force of some of their best soldiers to secure it. However, news of this discovery met the ears of more than just the republic. A local gang on Lornus Six, loyal to the pirating and thieving raiders, informed their comrades of this technology. With this news, the raiders mobilized a small fleet of their most brutal gang members to steal the alien artifacts, securing them for a massive profit. However, having kept a watchful eye on pirate activity in the galaxy, the Raider's mobilization attracted the attention of the fearsome Terran Guard Corp. Not willing to let such dangerous and potentially destructive tech fall into criminal hands, the Terran Guard sent a detachment of loyal soldiers to ensure that no one gain access to such unpredictable and dangerous artifacts. And finally came the shadowy organization of dangerously zealous cultists know as The Preservers. These cultists worshiped the dead ancestors as GODS. And seeing that the technology of the ancestors could fall into the hands of non believers, they gathered their most devout and radical followers, sending them on a crusade to retake the relics and artifacts of the most holy and venerable ancestors.

A great struggle for power was about to take place... it could only end with the victory of one faction, and the total defeat of all others.

The Struggle Empty Re: The Struggle

First came the United republic, their personnel carriers arrived first and began to unload their soldiers and heavy duty equipment onto the planet. Though a good portion of their forces had arrived, their high power cruisers and battle ships could not follow due to strange malfunctions with their warp drives, leaving the infantry and mechanized divisions of the United Republic totally deprived of their greatest weapon... Air support. However commander Valena of the Republic forces, a woman of the Velhu race, was not about to let their prize slip through her grasp. Under her careful command the republic forces would battle all comers for control of the ancestor technology, with or without air superiority.

However, next came the fearsome forces of the galactic raiders. Their massive pirate ships entered the planets orbit and immediately began unloading massive drop pods and drop ships containing armaments, vehicles, and most importantly pirates. There was many gangs within the raiders, but these raiders followed the banner of a gang known as La Mugre, "The Filth". Under the heavy handed rule of a man named Domingo Alvarez otherwise known as "Griz", this gang specializes in crimes committed directly against military and planetary defense forces. Griz is a mountain of a man who won't take no for an answer, especially when such a large sum of credits is on the line.

Just as fast as the Raiders came, so too did the disciplined and unyielding forces of the Terran Guard Corp. They arrived with crash and thunder as they immediately began firing on any of the Raider's forward troops and scouts as they came to the planet. And once they landed, they unloaded their soldiers and began to construct a mighty base with extreme efficiency and tact. Soldiers were instructed to immediately begin sector sweeps in preparation for their full scale invasion of the planet. Under the combined leadership of Commandant Briggs and Commissar Dragonovsky, the Terran Guard was destined to violently rip into the enemy forces caring little for their claims to the ancestor tech. They knew the dangers that unknown technologies could pose, and were not willing to let the naive republic nor the villainous raiders control them.

And finally came the mysterious Preservers. Unlike the other factions who were already beginning land skirmishes on the surface of the planet, the preservers came in stealth and set up a hidden base of operations of Lornus 6's moon. From there they would launch their stealthy operations and missions to weaken and cripple the other three armies without engaging in true combat. Under the watchful and devout lead of high priest Jonus, the preservers would see to it that their enemies destroyed each other leaving them to snatch victory from the weakened and tired foe who remained standing.

Valena, Domingo, Briggs, Dragonovsky, Jonus. The actions of these leaders will determine who emerges victorious in this great struggle for power.

The Struggle Empty Re: The Struggle

"Valena! Ma'am!" a soldier shouted as he tried to gain the attention of his commander. "What is it sergeant?" "It's the raiders... a-and the Terran Guard!" he said in a panic. "What happened." she asked. "They've already started fighting, and they're within range of the base! We might get dragged into the cross fire if they keep this up." he said. "What...? Argh... those damned idiot guardsmen..." she said in frustration "Get a detachment ready, if they get this close we're opening fire on either faction." "Ma'am? That doesn't seem like a good Id-" She stared at him "Don't question my judgement, sergeant." she said as she hurried to the observation tower, if they were really as close as he said... then she wanted to see what they were up to.

Meanwhile on the battlefield, the two most hot headed and unyielding factions were in fact already in intense combat. Bullets and live munitions were flying all over the place, explosions continued to detonate across the field of battle. And at the front of the Terran forces stood the charismatic commandant Briggs. "NOW THIS IS WHAT I LIKE TO SEE!" he shouted. "KEEP THAT AMMUNITION COMING! IF THESE RAIDER SONS OF BITCHES WANNA GO THEN WE'RE GONNA OBLIGE THEM WITH THE ASS KICKIN OF A LIFE TIME!" he shouted. Briggs was like that, constantly shouting and keeping up the persona of an intense drill sergeant to keep morale up mid battle. Something about seeing such a loud and devoted man at the front of every battle made the soldiers envious, if only they could be as fearless as him, it always made them fight harder. The Terran guard always relied on strong and charismatic leaders to keep the morale of their soldier's up, which is why they also sent the famed Commissar Ivan Dragonovsky. Where Briggs specialized in driving people to be fearless in combat, Ivan dealt with those who had lost the will to fight. One man had his face in the dirt, he had just been hit with two bullets and was crying in pain, he could keep fighting but was too scared to. He felt a strong hand lift him up "Hey, you're not dead yet kid." he said as he slapped a rifle into his chest "Sir- I-I can't-" "Yes you can, are you really going to let these damned criminals scare you?!" he said "I.... No... NO SIR!" "THAT'S RIGHT, NOW GET YOUR ASS BACK IN THERE CYKA!" he said leading the man back into battle.

Meanwhile on the other side of the battle, Domingo was examining the battle. "Boss! We're getting our asses handed to us out there! They're filling us with entire munition dumps! There's no way we can out gun those maniacs!" Domingo listened and considered what the man was saying to him "Hmm.... I see... Can't out gun them... well that does complicate things... But I think I see the problem here..." He said "Y-you do? What is it?" "Well it's simple..." He pulled out a massive pistol and shot the man through the head "It's cause I've got cowards like you as soldiers!" he said angrily. "Bring out the damned tanks if you have to! I WANT THESE SOLDIER BOYS DEAD! WE ARE GETTING THAT PAY OFF AND DONT YOU DARE TELL ME OTHERWISE!" he shouted to the rest of the present soldiers. Domingo had an interesting yet effective way of ruling. His soldiers were so effective and brutal because they were more scared of the commander behind them than they were of the enemy in front of them.

And as was custom for the Preservers, they stood in silence and waited... and watched... searching for the perfect moment to emerge and strike their enemies. "Sir... they fight like animals on the surface of the planet... none have tried to capture the relics yet..." an acolyte said to Jonus "Good... Send some scouts to the planet's surface. I want a full assessment of the enemy forces before we engage them." "Yes High Priest..." Make no mistake, the preservers would unleash holy wrath... just not yet.

The Struggle Empty Re: The Struggle

Post by Voipray Thu Oct 13, 2016 12:19 pm

After much intense fighting between the two most aggressive factions, The Guard and the Raiders, it was very apparent to the Republic that neither side had a noticeable advantage over the other. And so commander Valena made a decision that angered more than a few of her colleagues, they would propose an alliance with the Terran Guard to help crush La Mugre in an instant with their combined military might. It was a risky proposition given the Guard's unbelievable disdain for anything Republic. But if Valena wanted to ensure the raiders didn't steal the technology... she needed the aid of the Terrans. The message had been sent to the guard and they responded rather quickly, however... they would only negotiate if Valena herself came to their base to speak with the directly. "Ma'am you can't really be considering this?" her assistant said "I'm more than capable of dealing with these soldier boys, if they won't take unless they're safe at home then fine, I'll come to them." she said as she geared up and readied to head out.

She arrived at the Terran guard's military base with a small detachment of bodyguards in case the Terrans tried anything. She was greeted with a very strange sight, besides the usually scary looking soldiers in red power armor wielding high power weaponry she saw... Ivan. He was shirtless, golden dog tags hanging from his neck, he had several scars across his chest and two flag tattoos on each of his arms, one being the Russian flag and the other being the Terran Guard insignia. What was even more peculiar was he had a gorgeous woman under each of his arms, giggling and following with him as he walked over to Valena. "So... you're that republic girl scout I was told about. Well I'm afraid I'm all out of money for cookies." he said sarcastically. The guard pulled crap like this whenever they had to negotiate anything with the republic. Valena sighed and tried not to let his display bother her "Listen... You know exactly why I'm here, I've come to arrange an alliance between our forces." "And why would we help people like you eh? The Terran guard left the Republic so we don't have to deal with your bureaucratic bull shit anymore. In fact, I know a few of my guys who would be happy to fire on your blue asses. So why should we help you?" he asked, he clearly wasn't going to make this easy. "Well..." she thought she'd speak his language now "We've noticed the Raiders have been kicking your asses out there." she said with a smug smirk. Ivan was visibly hit by that, it was true... there was no way the Guard could win on it's own and given that they were losing to Raiders... it was a very embarrassing thing. Ivan told his girls to leave and then straightened out his back. "Alright... so we're in a tough spot, but you still didn't answer my question." "We need to raiders gone, you WANT the raiders gone. If we combine our forces we can wipe them off the map..." she said a grin. "I will admit, not have back up was an iffy thing from the start... but let me guess. You're here for that tech... aren't you..." he said accusingly "Well yes, we are." "You can't have that..." he said plainly "And what gives you the right to tell us tha-" "You remember seperus prime? The planet that got glassed because your 'researchers' didn't know that ancestor tech could wipe planets clean of life?" he said. Seperus prime was one of the biggest disasters in the Republic's history, researchers who were doing work on ancestor tech accidentally triggered a reaction that caused the powerful and unstable tech to release a nova that killed most of the life on the planet, even making the atmosphere toxic. "I... yes, I remember. But we're careful now, nothing like that will hap-" "I don't believe you, but fine.. you can have your alliance... but make no mistake, once the raiders are done with you are NOT getting that tech..." Valena sighed, that was as good an offer as she would get, she knew it meant declaring on the Terran guard later but at least she had their help for now. "Very well..." she said extending her hand to shake his.
